How much does a new boiler cost installed in Northamptonshire?

Every boiler installation is quoted as a fixed price after a free on-site survey, including parts, labour and VAT. Combi swaps, system and regular boiler upgrades, oil and LPG installations, and boiler relocations are each priced individually — no day-rate surprises.

Should I repair my old boiler or replace it?

Rough rule of thumb: if the boiler is over 12 years old, the repair quote is more than half the cost of a new boiler, or it's struggling to maintain temperature across the property, replacement is usually the better economic call. We'll tell you straight — even when the answer is 'your existing boiler has plenty of life in it'.

Are you Gas Safe and OFTEC registered?

Yes. Reactive Gas Heating & Plumbing is Gas Safe Registered for natural gas and LPG, and OFTEC registered for oil-fired boiler installation, servicing and repair. You can ask to see the engineer's ID card on any visit, and we always notify Gas Safe and OFTEC of completed installs in your name.

How long does a boiler service take and what's included?

A standard annual service takes around 45–60 minutes. We strip the burner, check gas pressures and combustion ratios, test all safety devices, inspect the flue and seals, and issue a service report. For oil boilers we additionally check the nozzle, electrodes and combustion efficiency. Landlord certificates are issued same day.

Do you install LPG and oil boilers as well as natural gas?

Yes — it's one of our strongest specialisms. We install, service and repair LPG combi and system boilers (Gas Safe LPG endorsed), and oil-fired boilers from manufacturers including Worcester, Grant, Warmflow and Firebird (OFTEC registered). Tank, regulator and flue work all handled in-house.

What boiler warranty will I get?

Warranty length depends on the manufacturer and model — premium combi boilers fitted by an accredited engineer typically come with 7–10 years standard, with 12 years available on flagship models. We register the warranty for you on commissioning day and email the certificate the same week.

Do I need a power flush before a new boiler installation?

Sometimes — not always. Modern condensing boilers are sensitive to system sludge, so manufacturer warranties often require a system clean. On a like-for-like swap of a relatively clean system, a chemical flush plus a magnetic filter is usually sufficient. On older, sludged systems we recommend a full power flush. We'll tell you which you actually need before quoting.
